Just upgraded to Wordpress 2.1. Went painlessly. Let me know if anyone spots any problems. Site seems much faster. Looks like some good work had been done in the internals.

Hangovers… (0 comments)

Aren’t hangovers great? Well I don’t actually have one, but Janet does. We went out with all the scout leaders for our group meal. We went up to the Woodheys in Marple Bridge. I must say they accommodated us very well. They cornered off a whole section of the restaurant for us. The food was great. I had onion soup to start, rib-eye steak for the main and apple crumble for dessert yummy! Of course we had a couple of drinks too! Afterwards we made a visit to the Bamboo Club in Hazel Grove. For all of you who haven’t experienced the Bamboo you’ve certainly been missing a rare treat. It has sticky floors, and is populated with a very entertaining group of people. We met our next door neighbor there, which now means the last two times I’ve been there I’ve met him there. Leading me to believe he goes there a little too often!

Anyway, it’s scout camp next weekend, and we (the leaders) are going to be camping outside. Hopefully it’ll be below 0 and we will get our polar bear badge… I’m so cool!

Travel Map (1 comment)

After planning my holiday to the East coast of the states I tried to remember everywhere I’ve been. Seems kind of crazy that there are so many beautyful places out there, and that I’ll get to see so few of them. So I decided to create a map to show the places I’ve been, am planning to go and would like to go. Check out the map here. It’s made using google maps API. I was impressed how easy it was to create, and it takes less space than a large poster atlas on my wall.

January (0 comments)

January seems to passing me by in a blur. I can’t really remember achieving anything all month. My parents returned from another cruise round some part of the world (South and central America I think). Oh yeah, we’ve booked our holiday. We are going to the East Coast of the States in June. We are going to Fly to San Francisco, drive around, then fly back from Vegas. I’m really looking forward to it. Should be able to get some great photos!

Okay, so we have a table with columns A B C D in. A B C D each line in the table is unique and D is an integer. I need to find all the unique permutations of A B C with the minimum value of D. Not too hard you might think, a simple multiple group by and a MIN function. Only problem is that the table is actually 25+ columns, with 25 million rows. The simple multiple group by, now takes days to run….

I want to cry…

Anyone with any ideas please comment!!

Big London Town (0 comments)

Big Ben

Well I’m back from London. Had an excellent time acting like a tourist. We went on the Eye, visited Buckingham Palace, went to see a show etc. etc. I managed to take loads of photos. The hotels were superb, Janets job has its perks! I’m too tired to think of anything more meeningful to write.
